Accessibility

We believe in giving as many people as possible equal access to this website. We want everyone to be able to cram their brains full of all our interesting facts, figures and nice warm thoughts.

To achieve this we’ve ensured that this site uses bang up-to-date accessibility technology, giving the widest spectrum of users full access to everything that the Refugee Awareness Project has to offer.

Accessibility features

The Refugee Awareness Project website uses semantic XHTML for markup and CSS for layout. In simple English, that means we firmly believe and work towards a website that is accessible to as many users as possible - regardless of disability.

All images in our sites contain appropriate alternate text and we always try to avoid using tables in layouts. Users can resize text by using their browser, and all foreground and background colours are checked to ensure sufficient contrast.

Access key navigation

The following access keys on your keyboard can be used to navigate this site.

Windows users can navigate with the accesskey feature by typing ALT+Accesskey. On a Mac, use CTRL+Accesskey (not COMMAND+Accesskey, which can produce undesired effects). Internet Explorer users may also need to hit the “enter” key to activate a link.

Windows users will find that accesskeys take precedence over application commands, which can still be accessed from the keyboard by first typing the menu shortcut key (usually ALT) followed by the letter corresponding to the desired menu item.
