Special actions for businesses

As a business filled with a bunch of great open-minded people, there are lots of ways for you to contribute to the local area by thinking more about the broader community around you, which may of course include refugees and asylum seekers.

Just by taking a look through our refugee stories you’ll see that refugees have lots to contribute - they just need to be given the chance, is all.

Choose us as your 'charity of the year'

Go on, why not? What with all this corporate social responsibility stuff, having a charity of choice is the done thing these days - and it’ll give you a warm businessy glow.

Sponsor a local Refugee Week event

Reach out to a whole new audience by getting involved in a rather wonderful week of celebrations.

Run a CV/application writing workshop for refugees

It's not easy looking for a job – not for anyone. Give groups of refugees the insider low-down on how the job market and application process works in the UK.

Advertise job positions and recruitment days to refugee communities

Use our networks (like refugee organisation newsletters or events) to recruit for potential employees. Many employers are looking to ensure their workforces reflect the diversity of the local community (statutory agencies are legally obliged to do this) and refugees are looking for work so hey, it’s win-win.

Offer a refugee a work experience placement

This is often the main way people can get UK work experience that will enable them to apply for and get their first job in the UK. Refugee Action has run really great projects that organise work placements and volunteer placements, and employers have been dead chuffed with people’s skills and enthusiasm.
