Our report ‘The Destitution Trap’ was published in 2007. We conducted in-depth interviews with over 100 of our clients in different regions of England, who are destitute. The report examines their reasons for fleeing their country, why they came to the UK, their experiences of the asylum system and the day-to-day reality of destitution. It contains recommendations for policy makers, and makes for powerful reading.  Read the report

If you want to find out who your MP is, see http://www.writetothem.com/
Most MPs have a surgery on Saturday mornings which any constituent can make an appointment to attend. You can find out when and where the surgey is by looking on your MP’s website.

Read our 'campaigner briefing' for advice on how to go and see your MP and show them our new short film about destitution.

Remember! If you write to or go and see your MP, it is important to ask them to do something, for example, to raise your concerns with the Home Secretary, or visit a local destitution drop-in, to meet destitute asylum seekers and hear their stories.

"I was taken away in a car by the secret police. It was terrifying. They interrogated me and accused me of being a foreign spy."
