Get Fair is a national campaign calling for an end to UK poverty by 2020.The coalition includes more than 50 organisations. By uniting the voices of the children and older people's organisations, refugee and disabled groups, housing groups, faith and community groups already working to alleviate poverty, the Get Fair message will be heard loud and clear.
In particular, we are raising the issue of refused asylum seekers, many of whom are destitute.
The campaign aims to raise awareness and get people taking action on poverty locally. It also aims to get politicians to prioritise eradicating poverty in the UK.
Take a look at the Get Fair website for more information and updates on events and ideas for what you can do.
From 26-27 June 2009 Get Fair are asking people to organise mass constituency lobbying of local MPs. They want you to contact as many local organisations as possible who are experiencing or fighting against poverty, and go and see your MP together, or even invite your MP to an event.
For more information on how you can do this, or to find out about lobbying events and briefings that are happening in your area see: http://www.getfair.org.uk/lobby
