Choices assisted voluntary return service

The Choices assisted voluntary return service is available to help you if you would like to return voluntarily to your country, or to talk to someone confidentially to decide whether to return.

If you or your family:

  • are an asylum seeker
  • are a refused asylum seeker
  • have Discretionary Leave to remain
  • are in the UK with no legal status (an 'irregular migrant')

then you can contact Refugee Action for independent, confidential advice and assistance about voluntary return.

What does the Choices service offer?

Confidential advice and information if you would like to think about whether or not to return voluntarily

If you decide not to return, referral to other services

If you decide to return, we will support you to:

  • Plan for your return — for example the journey from the airport to your home town/village, where you will live, what you would like to do, contacting family.
  • Give you information on packages of support that may be available in your country (education, employment, training, business packages)
  • Apply for travel documents and pay for the flight
  • In some cases you may be eligible for financial support after you have returned.
  • Offer assistance at the airport, and support after you have returned.
