Thursday 12 June: Launch of iWITNESS photo exhibition, Temple Meads Station
This is an unparalleled opportunity - a first for Temple Meads and for the city. You will be stunned by 15 powerful photos from this international photojournalist Tom Stoddart, enlarged onto banners that occupy the length of the platform on the main concourse of Temple Meads Station. 6pm
The exhibition lasts for 2 weeks from Thursday 12th June until Thursday 26th June and is being organised by the Pierian Centre.
Volunteers from Refugee Action will be at the station talking to commuters throughout the week about the exhibition and asylum seekers and refugees in Bristol.

Saturday 14th June: Asylum Dialogues and Exiles Express (Daphne Sadeh and Nawroz Oramari)
iceandfire theatre company are pleased to announce the launch of their new documentary play celebrating friendship and solidarity between British people and asylum seekers living among them. 7:45 for 8pm
Asylum Dialogues, scripted by award-winning playwright Sonja Linden, was created specifically for the Actors for Human Rights network.
The performance will be followed with music by Israel-born double bass player Daphna Sadeh and Kurdish vocalist Nawroz Oramari.

Sunday 15 June: Celebrating Sanctuary Fun Day
A day of live dance, music, poetry and art from international artists including Pinise Saul, Rose Moore, Chimanimani and back by popular demand, acclaimed Sudanese rapper Emmanuel Jal. With Angolan and Polish dancing, Eritrean storytelling, Tibetan music, nomadic home and Sand Mandala – an exquisite, temporary work of art, made on the day, Somali Aqal, stories and artefacts. There are dance, voice and art workshops, poetry, Capoeira, under 16’s football tournament, exhibitions, films, wellbeing area, bouncy castle, face painting, henna, Playbus and international food.
Refugee Action and the Refugee Awareness Project will have an information stand giving out information, badges, pens, balloons, and bags to those that fill out our quiz!!

Sunday 15th June: Sing 'n' Slam Refugee Week Competition Final
PLEASE NOTE: Deadline for submissions 27th May 2008.
Come up with your own unique piece of spoken or sung word busting the myths around refugees and asylum seekers and get the chance to perform your winning piece on stage at the Celebrating Sanctuary Fun Day at Queen Square on 15th June alongside performers from around the world. Other prizes to be announced.

Wednesday 18 June: What’s the link between a Mini Cooper and Refugee Week?
Come and find out all day at the Galleries and take part in the (remote control) Mini Cooper fastest lap competition! Pick up your free canvas shopping bags, pens, badges, stickers, balloons and more. Staff and volunteers will be available to answer your questions, help you discover what it is really like to be an asylum seeker or refugee and what you can do to help refugees in Bristol. 9am – 6pm

Refugee and mixed community teams take part in the 6th annual Refugee Week 5-a-side Football Tournament. Open to both male and female teams of all ages. Refugee Action staff, volunteers and friends will be bidding for glory! 10am – 5pm

14th-22nd June: Pierian Centre Celebrating Arts Exhibition
Art work of all descriptions by and about asylum seekers and refugees. Refugee Action will have awareness raising information available to those visiting the exhibition and events at the Pierian Centre throughout the week.

Friday 20 June: African storytelling at the Central Library, 2pm.
Cristelle Mutombo will lead a fun storytelling event. Free - just come along!
Friday 20 June: Cultural Kitchen, 3.30pm
START (Students and Refugees Together) host this event at the Sherwell Church Hall. Refugees and asylum seekers, and agencies working with these communities will be there to eat, cook and socialise. Free.
Saturday 21 June: Awareness raising stall in the city centre.
Refugee Action host a stall to give passers-by all the facts about asylum (outside Waterstones).
Monday 16th and Thursday 19th June: Refugee Awareness Raising in Primary Schools
Pupils will participate in a full school assembly, speaker from asylum background, video and art competition
