Ellen Kura's compelling film The Betrayal tells the story of one family's epic journey from war-torn Laos to the streets of New york struggling to overcome the hardships of immigrant life. It is a powerfully eloquent tribute of what it means to be in exile, of the far-reaching consequences of war, and of the resilient bonds of family.
Oscar-winning taxi to the Dark Side is a documentary murder mystery that examines the death of an Afghan driver at bagram Air Base north of Kabul. It provides the chance to reflect on UK and US involvement in the wars that force refugees to seek safety abroad.
Winner of both the Grand Prix and Audience award at last year's Locarno Film Festival, La Fortresse presents a humane look inside a Swiss reception centre for asylum seekers where 200 men, women and children, torn between doubt and hope, are awaiting the state's decision on their behalf. Introduction and Q&A with members of Refugee Action.
