Everyone who has had to flee their home deserves a chance to live again

At Refugee Action, we help people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes. We get them the basic support they need to live again with dignity. Then we help them build safe, happy and productive lives in the UK.

Our vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in the UK. They will get justice, live free of poverty and be able to successfully rebuild their lives.

Integration

not isolation

Dignity

not destitution

Support

not hatred

A future

free from fear

We believe that humanity can win

Regardless of how people seeking safety arrive in the UK, their journey to a safe, productive life is not over. So many challenges face refugees and people seeking asylum right here in the UK – and that’s why we exist.

Our values

We are with refugees and people seeking asylum. Our work is shaped by the experience of refugees and people seeking asylum. We stand alongside them to call for change and empower them to realise their aspirations.

We are courageous. We’re bold and creative in all that we do. We’re driven by our determination to ensure that all our work enables refugees and people seeking asylum to successfully rebuild their lives in the UK.

We are collaborative. We cannot succeed alone. We believe in collaborating with other organisations that share our vision, benefitting from their skills and strengths.

Our impact

In 2017/18, Refugee Action:

Helped 1,700 refugees to rebuild their lives in the UK

Delivered nearly 10,000 advice and support sessions

Supported more than 2,707 people going through the asylum process

Provided training and support to over 100 asylum charities

Shifting power

Refugee Action does not exist to work for people, but to work with them and to empower them to take control of their own lives and to influence the issues that matter to them. We want to do far more to shift power to refugees and people seeking asylum.

We have set ambitious new objectives for our 2019 – 2022 strategy, informed by our experience of the last three years. We are clearer than ever about the systemic changes we seek for people seeking asylum and in refugee integration, and how our work will be shaped by those with lived experience of the asylum process and as a refugee in the UK.
