At a meeting of Refugee Action’s board on 7 March, it was agreed that vice chair Andy Gregg will take over as the charity’s chair.
He replaces Penny Lawrence, who has stepped down as a trustee and chair of the charity.
This was agreed by the board as a temporary measure during ongoing investigations into events at Oxfam, where Penny Lawrence worked as deputy chief executive until 12th February 2018.
Penny joined Refugee Action as a trustee and chair in September 2016, following an open recruitment process. She has been a valued member of our board.
Notes: Andy Gregg is chief executive of Race on the Agenda. He has previously been chief executive of the Charities Evaluation Services and London Advice Services Alliance. Andy has 20 years’ experience providing strategic leadership and innovation at a senior executive level. He was formerly director of the Refugee Education and Training Advisory Service and of Islington Voluntary Action Council. He has a comprehensive understanding of human rights and issues facing refugees, asylum seekers and those suffering from ethnic or sectarian violence.
