Today, David Cameron used deeply irresponsible language during Prime Minister’s Questions, describing refugees in Calais as a ‘bunch of migrants’. It’s unfortunately not the first time he’s used such unhelpful, inflammatory terms to describe the men, women and children who are fleeing war and persecution, in order to rebuild their lives.
Just last week, four young people were reunited with their families following a court order allowing them to lawfully make their claim for asylum in Britain. David Cameron must stop using this dehumanising language; and instead show the political leadership required to ensure refugees can reach the UK safely to be reunited with their loved ones.
