Get festive with your fundraising

The season of giving and goodwill is upon us. And what better way to get in the Christmas spirit than by throwing a festive fundraiser for Refugee Action? With a bit of organisation and a flurry of tinsel, you could make a real difference to refugees and people seeking asylum this Christmas.

To get your inspiration flowing, we’ve put together a list of our favourite festive fundraisers. These are guaranteed to raise a few bob and get your December celebrations off to a joyful start. Whether you want to celebrate with friends, get jolly at work or do something low-key at home, your Christmas fundraiser will make sure that refugees feel welcome, heard and protected this winter.

Christmas Jumper Day

Is Christmas even Christmas without a bedazzled jumper? Challenge your colleagues to wear their tinsel-clad jumpers to work for the day, and donate to take part. You could add a competitive edge by asking everyone to create their own and giving a prize for the best handiwork.

Santa Fun Run

Run the extra mile for refugees this Christmas – it’s what Santa would do! Every December there are Santa runs all across the country, with free Santa outfits provided. There are events in London, Liverpool, Sheffield and heaps of others too. Raise funds by setting up a JustGiving page, and ask for sponsorship for your jolly challenge.

Donations Instead of Cards

Jump onto the trend of going card-free this Christmas. Rather than purchasing Christmas cards and stamps, donate the money you save to Refugee Action. This fundraiser is super low-key and doesn’t even require leaving the house!

Have a Good Old Party

Dedicate your Christmas party to those who have been forced to leave the homes they love. Whether it’s at work, at school or with your friends and loved ones, make it a celebration to remember. Provide a spread of delicious festive foods and cocktails, and ask for donations as part of attending. Or you could raise funds by hosting a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses.

Carol Singing

Is there anything more merry than carol singing? Get your buddies or local choir together and sing for refugees. We can provide you with collection buckets and Refugee Action t-shirts so you look the part. Supermarkets and shopping centres are a good place to start, you’ll just need to contact them ahead of time to get the ball rolling.
