The Abbey Centre

Join Refugee Action for the launch of our new briefing, ‘Asylum in the UK: A front line for racial justice’. Based on research carried out by refugees and people seeking asylum.

We have to talk about racism in the asylum system. And when we do, we have to recognise that the fight for racial justice and the fight for refugee rights are one and the same. This briefing and launch event intend to continue building bridges between the two movements.

Our expert panel, chaired by writer and academic Gary Younge, and leading voices on racial justice, migration and refugee rights in the UK.

The panel

Gary Younge
Author, Broadcaster, Professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester

Frances Webber
Trustee, Institute of Race Relations, former barrister specialising in immigration, refugee and human rights

Dr. Shabna Begum
CEO, the Runnymede Trust

Fizza Qureshi
CEO, Migrants’ Rights Network

Jason Thomas-Fournillier
