Theresa May spoke to the House of Commons this afternoon summarising discussions from the recent EU Justice & Home Affairs meetings and responded to questions about resettling 20,000 Syrians to the UK.
In response, Stephen Hale, Chief Executive of Refugee Action said:
“The Home Secretary confirmed today that the government will work with the voluntary sector on the resettlement of Syrians to the UK. There is a wealth of experience on which to build.”
He added:
“The public, local government and voluntary sector now urgently need to know the timetable for making the resettlement programme a reality, so we can develop programmes that enable refugees to successfully rebuild their lives.”
