SUPPORT REFUGEE ACTION AT YOUR SCHOOL

Learn about refugee issues, and raise money to help change lives

MAKE YOUR SCHOOL A PLACE OF SANCTUARY BY TEACHING PUPILS ABOUT REFUGEE ISSUES AND RAISING MONEY FOR PEOPLE SEEKING SAFETY.

Bring our work to life in your classroom!

We’ve been standing up for refugees since 1981 – but in all of our years of welcoming refugees and fighting for their rights, we’ve never seen the situation as bad as it is today. People coming to the UK in search of safety are being met with hostility, poverty and homelessness. That’s why Refugee Action are needed more than ever, and we continue to fight for people seeking safety. By joining us, your school can be a part of giving hope and help to refugees in the UK.

Download our Schools Education Pack and use our facts, stories and activities to teach your pupils about the global refugee crisis, and about what life is like for people seeking safety in the UK. Bring our work to life by inviting us in to deliver a Refugee Action talk, or by delivering one yourselves using our tailored schools assembly presentations. You can also use our fundraising guide to plan how your school is going to take a stand for refugees.

Raise money for refugees

Our work with refugees and people seeking safety can’t happen without the money raised by our incredible family of supporters. The cost of living crisis has hit the most vulnerable people the hardest, and refugees are increasingly facing poverty and homelessness because of how expensive it is to live. The money your school raises can give people seeking safety the support they need to find somewhere to live, escape poverty and build a new life for themselves. Here are our best fundraising ideas to get you started, and you can find loads more ideas in our Fundraising Guide.

Dress down day. Host a non-uniform day and ask each pupil to donate to take part.

Get selling! Organise a bake sale, make and sell crafts, or sell the old books you no longer need in your library.

Race for refugees. Organise a sponsored walk, run or school sports day to reflect the long journeys people must make to find safety.

Charity of the year. Nominate Refugee Action as your charity of the year and raise funds through fun events all year long!

Our team are here to support your fundraising, and have lots of resources to help you get started. We would also love to deliver an assembly or classroom presentation to your school, where we can tell your pupils about our charity and why we are fighting for refugees’ rights. If you would like to request a talk or receive further resources, get in touch with us at fundraising@refugee-action.org.uk.
