
Elaheh Akbari
Elaheh (formally known as Ellie Mahsoori ) has extensive experience working directly with refugees, asylum seekers and migrants since the 1990s. She is also an experienced manager who managed a number of integration and resettlement services, including advice and information, training and capacity-building, counselling and wellbeing activities as well as English language classes.
Elaheh worked for agencies like the Refugee Council for several years in a number of different challenging roles, a manager for Southwark Refugee Communities Forum, a director at Refugee Action Kingston, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Afghan Society in the Middle East and is founder of the Integration Support Network. Furthermore, Elaheh was a trustee member at the Asylum Support Appeal Project, the Day Centre for Asylum Seekers in Southwark and the Paiwand Afghan Association.
Elaheh has a master’s degree in Refugee Studies and International Refugee Law and a PG Dip in Psychotherapy and Coaching and is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Elaheh is an expert on issues around forced migration, causes of exile and women who experienced gender-based violence. Elaheh is passionate about advancing refugees’ rights and raising awareness.
