Mohamed Omar

Mohamed is Head of Experts by Experience & Partnerships at Refugee Action. He leads a new department to develop Refugee Action’s Expert by Experience Programme and oversees the Good Practice & Partnerships team’s work to support the sector to become more resilient, anti-racist and with a significant shift in power towards people with lived experience. Additionally, Mohamed leads on Refugee Action’s overall Anti-Racism strategy.

Before joining Refugee Action in February 2022, Mohamed led several projects at Mental Health Foundation across Scotland and England. Previously, he was at the Scottish Government working in different policy areas and at Interfaith Scotland leading on local and international projects including designing and delivering the International Youth Leadership Programme in Rwanda.

Mohamed is the Vice Chair of Scottish Refugee Council. He holds a master’s degree in International Law and bachelor’s degree in International Relation and Law from the University of Aberdeen. Mohamed loves spending time with the family and is a keen football fan.
