Welcome and good luck: my mother’s family were economic refugees to Canada, from Europe afterWW2 , where they were given a chance to work and live freely. My dad’s family were earlier pre WW1 economic refugees from England, also to Canada where they too were allowed to work and live. I was born in UK and grew up here feeling like an outsider because of the mix in my cultural heritage, compared to my peer group at school, but have come to realise with age how very much I do belong here. Especially now that more of UK is more culturally mixed. I no longer feel different
