At Refugee Action, we help people who come to the UK seeking safety. They’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes – many have experienced war, torture, unimaginable danger.
But for many, when the reach the UK, the journey to safety is not over.
They face isolation, loneliness. Many fall into destitution. Some face violent hate crimes from people who don’t believe they deserve safety.
How Refugee Action helps
Refugee Action gets people seeking safety the support they need to live again with dignity. We help them build safe, happy and productive lives in the UK. We campaign to change the broken systems that push them into isolation and poverty.
Our vision is that refugees and asylum seekers will be welcome in the UK. They will get justice, live free of poverty and be able to successfully rebuild their lives.
Small but powerful
As small charity committed to helping one of the most marginalised communities in the UK, every gift we receive is truly appreciated – and makes a genuine difference to people’s lives.
Why support Refugee Action?
When Naif first came to Refugee Action, he had lost all hope. He was sleeping rough, facing endless battles with the Home Office, banned from working to support himself while his asylum claim was being processed.
When he came to Refugee Action, he found people who refused to give up on him. Our doors were open when all others had closed. Now he’s safe, happy and working full time. He’s building a real life with a future in the UK.
Here’s his message for people who support Refugee Action.

Refugee Action supported 9,000 people seeking asylum with practical support and advice in the last year.
